At July's meeting we discussed having a Street Outlaws (Discovery Channel) build-off and everyone seemed agreeable.
It does not have to be a particular car that is on the show(but could be), but done in that style. Nitrous, turbos, small tire, big tire...doesn't matter. You can pick any car your want as long as you think it would be a super fast street car.
Due date is this December's meeting (2014). Feel free to post progress pictures in this thread.
Good luck & have fun !

Hey everyone. Finally getting started on "the project". Here is the flimsy, warped body with the front and rear body panels glued in. If any of you remember working with these 1/1 cars, the sheet metal was SO thin and, just flimsy. This kit is true to it's heritage. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice kit, but the body is really thin and the locating of many of the parts so far, is vague. And here is the required aluminum small-block chevy with a 700-R4 transmission. Away we go! THANKS FOR LOOKING!

GOOD DAY TO ALL! COUPLE OF THOUGHTS: We need to decide NOW who will be "leaving" the start line. Their build should have the front suspension extended, at least a little, depending on the quality of the suspension. Obviously, these two cars will need drivers. Plus, I think it will be almost a must to have a guy "banging the light". I am really glad we chose the put a Wisconsin spin on it. The pressure is off to have all of the tow vehicles be newer trucks. As we know, Wisconsin is loaded with lots of older (90's-2000's) farming-type trucks, as well as newer stuff, and it is really hard to find newer trucks in kit form, unless you have $50.00+ to spend on a Meng. Let's hammer out the first BUILD date. How does the weekend of 24th/25th look? Lemme know. We can use my garage, unless someone has a different idea.

the 24th I have "happy hour" for my nephew's pinewood derby @ 7pm and the race on the 25th @ 3. I should be able to make it on the 24th but may have to leave early to get to North FDL by 7

Good day to all fellow plastic-junkies! The first (of many) group build beginning for the base will be at my place on Saturday, Jan. 24th, beginning on or around 10:00 A.M. and will go till ? We will have a 4x8 sheet of plywood, and a 4x8 sheet of Styrofoam to get us started, along with most of the basic tools we will need. Our plan is to get the "road" roughed in, or more, and come up with a detailed plan for all of the dio so we can establish a "needs" or "shopping" list. If you are going to attend, please message back on this thread. As I see it now, there are a few things we will need: -bring any coarse to medium sand paper you may have. -bring ideas on how to create "cracks" in the asphalt. -if you have painting ideas, bring that too. -if you have "shoulder gravel", bring that. -if you have "field" ideas,(plowed, planted, corn, alfalfa, etc.) bring-em. -etc. You get the idea. Hope to see you there!

HIGHWAY 23 EAST TOWARD FONDY. Right on Townline Rd. Last house on the right before the 3rd stop sign (water tower). Look for the wrecked suburban in the driveway. White house, green roofs.

Good day to all. Build day #1 went off well. Began around 10:00am and concluded mid-afternoon, partly due to the primer drying and not being able to do much during this process. In attendance were Bob, Cal, HRT, and myself. Basically where we are at is, the foam is glued to the 4x8 sheet of plywood, sculpted and primed. We decided to add an old, Wisconsin-style one room school house, often seen on rural intersections in this state. Cal has volunteered to construct this, and we will help if he needs. As I type, HRT just scored a stop sign and a speed limit sign. Bob volunteered to research and construct the power lines. Bob also is checking his stash for trees, and if he comes up empty, we will be buying one or two on-line. I will try to harvest a couple of "dead" trees from my father-in-law's apple orchard. On one side of the "track" will be a plowed field, and on the other side will be the front lawn of a tavern, only to include it's sign. Also, there will be a "stuck" garden tractor there. Behind the "T" intersection will be the school-house with it's parking lot, full of our tow rigs. Fish is going to round up some figures, and I may have some too. So far, so good. I will post the next build date, but am open for suggestions.

Quick update: I just drove around a little and harvested some "dead" trees for around the school house! They look pretty good, I think, mostly from bushes along the ditches. So we are set for those. Bob, how are the "live" trees doing? Later.
