Our first Plasticheads make-n-take was a huge success! On hand for instructional help were Bug, Minimaniac, Cal, Hotrod Trucker, Fish, Troyh, Deadhead Pete, and myself.
We had gotten a Revell Make-n-Take "kit" which included 25 kits, instructions, decals(stickers) screwdrivers, and event posters.
We went to the Kiel Custom Car show, set up a tent and tables and chairs, and laid out a sign-up sheet. At 10:45, we were nervous because we only had 6 juniors signed up! But, as the crowd grew, so did the participant list, and before we knew it, we were all-in! A great time was had by all, and the kids left smiling.
Also note-worthy, Shadow27 just happened to be there in the swap area, thinning out his collection, and in fact, we helped. I bought a few, as did Bug, and I know that there were at least a couple of youngsters that visited his tent after the event was done. We got their juices flowing, and that was the whole point.
I would like to extend a huge "Thank-you" to Nick, and all of the members of the Kiel Car Club for giving us the opportunity to reach out to some young people and hopefully fuel their desire to get into our great hobby! We'll be back next year, for sure!
