I wanted to build one of these for 2 reasons: to get a feel for it for the Make-n-Take, and to see if I could throw together something for Trak, that is actually Trak-able. Not sure if I pulled it off, but here goes.... It is based on a low-buck 1/4 mile car that a few buddies put together. It runs an unknown engine/transmission and sports 1941 Chevrolet truck 19.5 inch front wheels/tires and hubs (for the big brakes) and parts-box rear wheels with AMT parts-pack slicks. A deep purple metal flake racing steering wheel (remember those?), and added steering linkage. I narrowed the rear end a little, fizz-bombed some tan paint, threw on some pinstriping and light weathering and there you have it. Oh, and the functioning tow bar. I probably spent more time on the tow bar than the rest of the car .

Looks good, are the rear slicks the parts pack slicks?

Thanks for the kind words, and yes, those are AMT Parts-Pak rear slicks. I'm not sure if they are period correct, but I think they are. I also did a bunch of research on the whole a/s thing and I think it is ok. I think I learned that the "A" is a designation for the cubic inch/total weight ratio, and the "S" is for "street???" I struggle with the NHRA classes and they were kinda confusing back in those days.

Nice Job Buddy ! That baby looks sweet. Love the mild patina and the tow bar. The slicks you used are period correct. They are what is known as a "Pie Crust" slick because of the edge of the tire. Pie crust slicks were used from the 50's until about the mid 60's. Better racing tire technology kind of wiped them out. Looks very TRaKable to me PS - Since you now have a handle on building "snap-togethers" I think you can move onto glue kits..........JK ;D
